Joseph Daniel Norman, 85, of Milledgeville, died on Friday, Dec. 16, in Savannah.
He was born in Cleveland County, North Carolina, the son of the late Odus James and Lucy Sain Norman. He was united in marriage to Gilda Dale Alexander, who survives.
Mr. Norman retired from Owens Corning Fiberglass in Jackson, Tennessee, where he had worked in management. He was a member of Morris Chapel Baptist Church, a member of the Masons, and also served on the Milledgeville Board of Aldermen for 12 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Ronnie Norman of Nebo, North Carolina; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four sisters, Frances Pittman and Anita Broderick, both of Morganton, North Carolina, Janice Roper of Asheville, North Carolina, and Pixie Owens of Greensboro, North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Debbi Wilson; three brothers, Gene, Sherril and Stan Norman; and two sisters, Sybyl Poole and Melba Ruth Norman.
Services were held on Tuesday, Dec. 20, at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Mike Moore officiating. Burial followed in Milledgeville Cemetery.
