Beatrice Meek McAulay, of Memphis, formerly of Sardis, was born in Hardin County on July 12, 1921, the daughter of the late Jessie Miller and Lillie Ann Davis Meek.
On Oct. 15, 1938, she was united in marriage James Floyd McAulay, who preceded his wife in death on Aug. 9, 1978.
Mrs. McAulay worked for 16 years as an inventory control supervisor for Wonder Bread. She was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church in Memphis, where she taught Sunday school for more than 50 years. Mrs. McAulay drove the church van for many years, she would pick up children and feed them before going to church. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, babysitting and quilting. She loved her family and extended family.
Mrs. McAulay departed this life on Wednesday, Nov. 16, at her residence in Memphis, at the age of 95 years, 4 months and 4 days.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara K. Boyd of Memphis; one grandson, Brian C. Boyd and his wife Dawn and one great-grandchild, Brianna Dawn Boyd; one niece, Linda S. Powell Barstow and her husband David of Belleville, Michigan and one nephew, Larry Powell and his wife Ava of Sardis; five great-nieces and nephews and five great-great-nieces and nephews.
Mrs. McAulay is also survived by a host of family and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one niece, Patsy Ann Powell Campbell; and one sister, Lorene Meek Powell.
A graveside service was held on Saturday, Nov. 19, at Milledgeville Cemetery with the family officiating.
