Velma Oweda Tucker, 82, of Savannah, died on Sunday, Oct. 16.
She was born in Booneville, Mississippi, the daughter of the late Howard William and Velma Earnest Jumper. She was united in marriage to William Robert Tucker, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Tucker was a member of St. Mark Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher. She was a headstart teacher at Chickasaw Area Development.
She is survived by her son, William Rodney Tucker of Savannah; one grandson; and sister, Geneva A. Cherry of Atlanta, Georgia.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Lisa Tucker.
Services were held on Friday, Oct. 21, at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Henderson Hawkins Jr. and Rev. Donna G. Hawkins officiating. Burial followed in Corinth National Cemetery at Corinth, Mississippi.
