James Rogers

James Rogers was born in Hardin County on June 16, 1928, the son of the late Emmett and Lola Droke Rogers.

On April 23, 1955, he was united in marriage to Ella Rhea who preceded her husband in death on Nov. 21, 2001.

Mr. Rogers retired from Brown Shoe Company after 30 years as an electrician. He was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Rogers was a member of Temple Baptist Church and was a member of the Savannah Masonic Lodge 102. He enjoyed working on lawnmowers for everyone. Mr. Rogers also enjoyed going to auctions, gardening and he enjoyed being outside and working.

He departed this life on Monday, Dec. 14, in Savannah, at the age of 81 years, 5 months and 28 days.

Mr. Rogers is survived by one daughter, Regina Simbeck and her husband Damien of Killen, Ala.; two grandchildren, Christina Simbeck and Elizabeth Simbeck.

Other than his parents and his wife, he was also preceded in death by three brothers, Max, David and Kenneth Rogers.

Services will be held today, Thursday, Dec. 17, at 3 p.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Robert Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Hermon Cemetery at Hardin County.
